Had some Jurassic Park level sunflowers this year.

I specially ordered some gigantic sunflower seeds, they all kind of fell short of the promised size.

These are only supposed to get to five feet, they were closer to twice that.

Ive been getting them this big for a few years in the same patch. I think the trick is to not water them. Sunflowers are drought resistant so I don't even bother.

Gibberellic acid !

If you applied a solution of Gibberellic acid, with a small paintbrush, every two days around the entire base NEAR the flower and up onto it, as someone that has cheated before with Gibberellic acid on other species...


YOU WILL ALMOST DOUBLE THE SIZE (mass) using Gibberellic acid!

usually its applied to a actual fruiting stem, but I predict it will have same results, but the stalk might need bracing to hold the heavier flower and the stem need free rotation to "track the sun path' during day, and needs more sun on leaves, and more water, and more minerals.

THEN YOU DO IT AGAIN the second year with the larger seeds, for tiny extra size bump : here is a botany PDF on hacking sunflowers with Gibberellic acid o fix mutants lacking height :
