I have had batteries rebuilt, but not DeWalt and been happy with them. I've not heard of counterfeit but I guess it happens. You might look up to see if their is a warranty service location near you and see if they have any deals.

Do it yourself, open them up & check what type of cells are in there. You can order the same type with better mah & assemble it yourself with a soldering iron.

if its lithium battery you can start a big fire , as shown in the online videos, but good recharge cells to refresh your packs have little wire tails preattached on ends for safety

If you're doing it with a low wattage iron, it's bound to happen because you'll heat up the entire cell before the solder melts.

Np, just make sure your iron can go high enough to not have to leave it on there too long. Quick solderings are key.

I think you can get cells with tabs already welded on, then solder the tabs.
