Tap that wifi icon on your phone. Okay so you don't have internet now.
Okay, so what? You might ask. Oh well you might notice all of your money is now gone and useless. Just like that, your life can be deleted. Way of the future amirite?
I've stated numerous times on the Voats, that I am absolutely retarded.
That said, this is what I never understood about crypto; what happens when they shut the internet down?
My neighbors kid (32 yo who still lives at home btw) is always showing me how much *money he has. I asked him once about the internet going poof & he looked at me like I was retarded.
This is true as well. Ive been in a bank when their systems were down and it was an absolute shit show.
I keep a bit of gold & diamonds, but my most prized possessions are my hand tools & books. When it all goes to shit I should be able to barter quite well as I can make a wide variety of stuff.
since most places now accept contactless payment, swapping from fiat to crypto is very easy. but this will have to be the fedcoin, if not, they will literally shoot people
You have it right. But that's the only risk. Many think the internet being shutdown is a bit unlikely.
Decentralization means a global shutdown is about the only thing that would halt crypto. Not gonna happen, but if it does allocations in crypto isn't much of a concern. Booze and bullets will spend better then.
But part of my wealth keeps growing, while my other hedges collect dust.
I'm going to say something you may not be aware of, but you absolutely can go buy groceries. There's an offramp to get any other currency you want. So exchange some for a few hundred bucks, then go shopping....done.
That being said, I think crypto as an investment is gay. Anything meant to be a currency, that fluctuates that much, isn't worth it.
I don’t know anyone who treats crypto as a replacement for real money. Not much you can buy with it with anyways so i dont know anyone who thinks this. Most people just buy and sell until they got enough to turn it into fed notes. OP is just mad cause he missed out on the the 21st century gold rush.
Congratulations on winning the award for the worst take ever seen on Voat!
Oh you don't want to get in on the ground floor of the fasting appreciating asset class of the entire history of humanity? Good for you. That will really show (((them)))
I have a crypto.com card. It takes 10 seconds to turn crypto into cash and then cash into groceries.
The people managing that bitpay company are a bunch of pajeets and the board of advisors is a bunch of heebs. Coinbase is known to exchange personal transaction information with the government. Peak clown world.
Ecoin are the latest pyramid scheme brought to you by none other than the same guys who manipulate and crash the economy on a regular basis.
This is all part of the overall Plan. Useful idiots who have bought into the plan and tell others its such a great idea look at all my shekels are prime examples of another successful scheme.
You go ahead and stay a simple kind of man, one you can love and understand. Forget your lust for the rich man's gold. All that you need is in your soul.
You do that while the rest of us see 50x (10,000%) gains in a year. Solana. Solana. Solana. Solana.
Have fun with the crashing dollar, unstable gibbserment, and unreal property taxes on your chicken farming homestead. You do that while the rest of us keep the fruits of our labor in BTC. You stay tied to your land and bleed out on it while the rest of us move our life savings around the world with a few bits of data.
Must be nice living in la-la land like that and thinking you're above reality, nursing a superiority complex typical of cityots who are totally disconnected from real life.
You pay taxes on property too, either directly or through you soyboy rent, they'll shoot up in the city long before homesteaders see an increase.
So what happens to your saving if the power goes out or interwebs is down? You're then penniless and powerless to do anything with it.
People have been saying this since a Bitcoin was valued at less than a $.01 USD and they'll be saying it after a Bitcoin is valued at over $10M USD. The reality is, there is intrinsic value to Bitcoin. Same as with any fiat. Its valuable because other people want it and will give value for it. Why do people want it? They see what is happening to fiat.
The entire value of the banking system is built on the convenient ability to transfer wealth by using a trusted 3rd party. Every 3rd party in history has proven untrustworthy, but we always deal with it because of the enormous value they provide by making it convenient to transfer value.
With the blockchain, the 3rd party is incorruptible. The ability to transfer value remains. Its been around for 15 years and has gone from less than a penny to $50k. It did this because it is valuable.
When the tools are built to fix some issues (ease of use, government regulation, fees, etc) it will be the most valuable financial system ever created.
Not that your point has no merit, powerful people will attempt to sabatoge it to retain their power. They may succeed or they may fail, but USD is absolutely being stolen through inflation. I'll take my chances with Bitcoin.
The only intrinsic value bitcoin has over other cryptos is inertia, which largely is due to first-mover advantage. It's temporary. Etherium looks to be a better candidate for long term.
In the past you could buy groceries with gold or silver until the jew government outlawed it so they could control us with fiat. I didn't say that USD was good, just that Bitcoin isn't a pragmatic replacement, it's merely a money making scheme. If you utilize it for that then whatever but I hate seeing people say it's the future and will replace fiat but never actually explain how it's going to be practically implemented into daily living scenarios.
How about the present? If people have implemented online banking with a swipe of a card to pay for things, it can be done with cypto. I don’t see how that’s a difficult thing to grasp.
Dated yesterday, titled: "Here’s why this billionaire investor predicts cryptocurrencies will ‘go to zero’" Which doesn't really mean shit, a few years back the largest owner of bonds (Bill Gross, Pimco Fund) said that they were overvalued and due for a YuGE crash. Which never occurred....or hasn't yet.
