Reddit has some new fucky going on.

submitted by totes_magotes to MeanwhileOnReddit 3.7 yearsAug 25, 2021 22:19:04 ago (+24/-2)     (MeanwhileOnReddit)

Observe this post:

https://archive.is/qm8Mg

The link goes to the reddit post which is now locked (so that you can't point out the obvious power grab).

In short, post after post has been spammed on the site where the mods supposedly support the idea of reddit doing something about covid misinformation.

The problem is that this entire thing was started by a group of reddit moderators more toxic than nearly all of the reddit community combined: The mods of FragileWhiteRedditor.

I was at work when this started (sorry, can't view the free speech sites at work so I'm stuck with reddit) and noticed this and, being bored and loving to poke at the bear, I made an account to point this out. In less than 5 minutes the account was suspended (banned) by the admin.

The only way to stop "misinformation" is to have the ability to tag user accounts to people. That means that this is a coordinated call for an end to anonymity on reddit and other social media sites. Further, it would eliminate user ability to fight back against abuse by moderators and admin, regardless of what social media it is.

FragileWhiteRedditor is a sub that exists solely for the purpose of insulting and degrading white people on reddit. Nothing they say or do should be assumed be "safe" or "non-toxic." The people who own the company chain down to reddit are Jewish and Chinese is the single largest stakeholder in the company. This is no coincidence.

This is a coordinated and non-organic attempt to remove anonymity from most of the internet.

Incidentally, this is a touch over 2 and a half years since tencent invested in reddit. Sounds to me like there's a sudden push to enforce account/person ties in order to prep for a 3 year obligation.

The retarded shit that kikes post on voat gets pretty bad sometimes but then, every now and then, I see what has become of reddit and I just can't believe how retarded it is. I'll take an obvious honeypot over that shit any day of they week.

Funny we had an attempt to do away with Anon here not to long ago.
It may have nothing to do with Reddit but the chipping away at Anon on the Internet is clearly something we should be concerned about.
Thanks for the info.

You moron - we are already anonymous through our pseudonyms.

'Anon' as they call it on this site is simply a security hole, and runs against community principles.

So let’s say I want to announce a protest in “place” to voat so that voat passes this info on elsewhere but I don’t want to attach my user name. Should I curate an alternative acct. so it has a little credibility around here.
No. anon exists for a reason even here.
maybe some users don’t like name faggotry.
Anyway I obviously wasn’t going to convince you otherwise and you ain’t goona convince me.
Poal has ZERO anon subs.
Maybe give that a go.

You homo.

Anon posts need to be throttled down.

The anon spammer has an ulterior motive

Are you telling me 1 guy is mis-using anon sub.
SHUT IT DOWN

Here, we see jews in their natural habitat, shilling for anon subs.

Again, you can't crack our community without anon. This is the only reason you want anon.

A less than 5 minute visit to Reddit these days results in a strong urge to commit Hari-Kari.

Twitter asks for cell phone # to text code to sign up…thereby eliminating privacy and anonymity…besides other ways to identify you

I keep getting banned so I keep signing up new accounts…

Every single tracking and fingerprint system that relies on the browser can be eliminated by surfing private mode. No exception. Most sites so far haven't implemented such an identification/association system yet because they don't want to be responsible for data breaches and there's no return on investment on the time to implement it or buy one.

But reddit operates at a loss every day (isn't that odd). If they come up with one that they can give away freely, they hold the data keys.

Tell me, do you really want reddit holding your data just because you went to some dinky little site that has nothing to do with reddit (I mean "China") but has implemented reddit's tracking/association system? FFS, facebook is so bad that browsers and phones have built-in anti-facebook features.

[ - ] dalai_llama 1 point 3.7 yearsAug 26, 2021 07:45:43 ago (+1/-0)

That's not how private mode works . . .

[ - ] totes_magotes [op] 0 points 3.7 yearsAug 26, 2021 20:13:13 ago (+0/-0)

The tracking analytics only work if it can persist more than one session (i.e. after the browser closed). Sure, you can get a single visit's worth of data but that's it. If you create an account, you can still keep it isolated from the analyzed data they hoped to use because there's no history in your browser data, only what they collect and save with your account. Hence, an effectively clean slate.

Anyone who remained on reddit during the time period of late 2014 to 2017 is somewhat of a fag.

I miss the old reddit, I have an 11 year old account and memories of when it replaced digg as the exiting place to get news and share opinions. Around 5-6 years ago the tide shifted and it became a shithole with constant moderation. Constant. The best posts were deleted, narratives were forced and bots would auto downvote the best posts and comments to -25 to bury it, then at some point moderators just began deleting. Then at some point keywords couldn't even be posted. So i got annoyed and started using latin characters to avoid the auto word delete and it would get a fast ramp of +200-400 before a mod woke up and banned it. Eventually you realize it's a cucked location and you abandon it for it's a mountain of bots and sheep. It suffers the same fate as digg, and I have again moved on to better locations.

Mods or whoever have the power on that site to add or minus as many internet points as they want.

fuck faggot.. why is this even worth the energy it requires to type about it?

Like it or not, reddit drives a lot of traffic and is one of the most visited sites on the internet. If they can trailblaze a standardized and reliable way to tie an account to a person, the rest of the internet will follow. Did you think it was pure coincidence that this happened just after twitter started requiring an account to browse content? To make an account, they require a cell phone number.

If reddit can create and implement a system which can be ported to other social media sites like some kind of "plugin," (much as how twitter made bootstrap), it will spread like a cancer. Again, no coincidence that the single most toxic moderation team spearheaded the movement.

They can't deplatform all social media sites. Other sites have proven resilient to being rejected by payment processors. It's the constant chipping away at what makes the internet usable and movement towards a totalitarian social credit system. Again, tencent is Chinese and reddit's largest stakeholder. Not a coincidence.

Keep going up the company chain until you get to the actual people who own it.
