If you are still doing sit-ups please don't. All you're going to do is hurt your back.

There are many other ways beyond what's in this video. Just, don't do sit-ups, your back will thank you.

You should probably also be doing something for your back. It's the legs of the torso, fundamental and often over looked. Don't skip back day.

Is there a good way to do crunches without fucking up my upper back everyday?

Crunches are deemed safer than sit-ups. It's basically the first part of a sit-up, the abs contraction without the hip flexion.

Blue pants man is very knowledgeable, but like everyone else he's also grinding the youtube algorithm with pedantic clickbait. People would only hurt their back doing sit-ups if they are too weak from the hips, blue pants man offers an easier and safer alternative that would help someone progress to a normal sit-up form (although its not presented as such because a controversial title like "Sit-ups are bad! Do X instead" generates more views).

Unless you're using those gay machines at the gym, you're core is engaged during most lifts. If you complete a lift and managed to not fold like a lawn chair and collapse under the weight, congrats you successfully trained your core.

my favourite exercise is the deadlift. but i really benefit from doing planks and pushups. the best thing i discovered though is exercise like ballet-dancers do. just lay on your back, lift one leg and touch your toes with the opposing hand. Does wonders for recreation. cause you get that cross-activation.

If you must do something similar, do crunches instead. Doesn't pull the back in an awkward position like a sit-up

I don't know if I agree that doing sit-ups is going to hurt you, but yeah as exercises go they are kinda useless. My go-to 'ab' exercise is to do a V-sit while holding a weight (away from the body) and then twist the legs and the weight opposite to each other. It gets core, back, shoulders, even gluts to some degree.

As with all weight bearing exercises do it to fail or else you are not getting to most out of it.

Could I get a link to this?

Completely agree, but if you made this post, why not link a video or two on alternatives? I'm too drunk right now.

E: Oh, lol, didn't see it. You did. My fault.
