I buy my meat either directly from the farmer, or from a local butcher.

submitted by Artificial_Intelligentile to Cooking 2.7 yearsAug 20, 2021 11:47:28 ago (+34/-0)     (Cooking)

Recently i have started to buy stuff that doesnt sell well, so that the local butcher doesnt have to throw that stuff away. I am widening my horizon that way, and dont always buy the same stuff. made some pretty decent discoveries that way. Who knew that Pork Tenderloin is also great when cut up into small pieces, seasoned the greek way... do you guys support your local farmers?

Local butcher is about a five minute walk away in a town of about 700 people. The odds and ends are also great for the dogs, they love that shit.

It's 10x better to support the local business than giant business like CostCo or wherever people are shopping.

butcher? sure. Farmer? NO

ILLEGAL in usa

ILLEGAL for farmer to sell beef directly to retail in many states, and even some related federal laws

Exemption? one quarter piece of carcass and larger is legal in all states

most non-restaurants will not buy a quarter of a cow

OP is larping, or indicating where he lives

Feds seek list of black market us farmers EVERY WEEK starting with a post like this, follow questions are :

- "Who sells you raw milk? I want to try a cheese recipe. Address?"

- "Who sells shares of co-op owned dairy cows for raw milk? I want to try a cheese recipe. Address?"

- "Know any farmers willing to sell me a FLORENTINE STEAK cut?. Address?" (US and EU law banned butchers selling FLORENTINE STEAK 2 decades ago, though its available in some special mafia restaurants to this day, and affordable.

feds feds feds all over the nets

why in the world would both the eu and us regulate away ANY specific cut of meat? I'm not being a dick, i genuinely want to know.

Florentine steak is incredibly illegal. beyond illegal to sell cooked or uncooked, and sold only in mafioso restarants in back rooms.

Ive taken trophy photographs of the three times I flew to italy to dine on it.

Th reason is you need to cut up the cow a special way not done normally for over 600 years.

It involve horizontal sawing through spine and meat all around spine on your dinner platter. The spine spreads "mad cow" and makes white people more retarded than a nigger in 18 to 40 years from prion replication

http://web.stanford.edu/~siegelr//ajai.html

my brain might already be half rotted by now from mad cow

Raw milk marketed as an animal food is perfectly legal to sell. If I consume it, it's my choice.

I would think it is only self-butchered meat you refer to, as anyone can sell meat cut up by a proper loicensed butcher. Either a food safety thing or a loicense fee racket, probably.

It's illegal to sell shares of animals now?

[ - ] try 0 points 2.7 yearsAug 21, 2021 04:41:08 ago (+0/-0)

of course, and feds keep shutting them down and arresting. you have to buy a whole cow, not part of a single cow : even now in CANADA!!!!

Court shuts down large raw milk co-op; advocate done fighting:

I'm a farmer that sells direct to people. It's amazing. The quality of beef I can make right here is faaaaaaaar better than anything you'll find at a super store and still a little better than what you'll find at local butchers.

If anyone has any questions about the process or beef farming let me know.

[ - ] Jiggggg 2 points 2.7 yearsAug 20, 2021 16:39:09 ago (+2/-0)

I only buy beef from ranchers who raise it less than an hour from me. They come to the farmers market and do a booming business. Very nice people too

awesome! hard to get here. i have a vendor for wild game, but he charges 20 dollars per pound, i can afford that only on rare occasions XD would love to eat meat i killed myself, but wild animals are rare where i live...

[ - ] Rotteuxx 2 points 2.7 yearsAug 20, 2021 13:19:10 ago (+2/-0)

20 dollars per pound

Yikes!

Have you looked up outfitters to go on a hunting trip once a year? Might be cheaper and it'd be your kill.

[ - ] Version6 2 points 2.7 yearsAug 20, 2021 11:53:20 ago (+2/-0)

Mine is a little drive out but yeah we head out there a couple times a month and stock up.

[ - ] 86USSLiberty 1 point 2.7 yearsAug 20, 2021 20:50:30 ago (+1/-0)

I’ve got cows and sheep and landowner tags for the occasional elk. Me and a local guy work something out when it’s slaughter time.

Pork tenderloin is amazing. I have no idea why it's so cheap.

[ - ] TheLastStraightMan 0 points 2.7 yearsAug 20, 2021 23:00:32 ago (+1/-1)

Because pigs are disgusting little shits that eat anything, including people

[ - ] BottomSeether 0 points 2.7 yearsAug 21, 2021 04:16:33 ago (+0/-0)

The quality difference between meat from a nice butcherer VS the grocery store is insane, sure there is also a price difference but idk how they manage to fuck up meat so badly in the grocery store.
