So, wife was diagnosed with Covid

Wife is pregnant, currently going 5 months on it.
We were a bit concerned about it as she was given a sanitary order to not leave the house for 3 days with a positive status.

Despite having the symptoms, they called us yesterday and said that it was negative.

I am obviously thankful to God that nothing bad happened in the end and that the baby is doing fine. But do in fact wonder how many false positives are out there. And how people despair so easily to it. I am the most impulsive of the two, and I had to calm her down. (O.o)

My boss and his wife currently have it and his wife is doing worse, hopefully it will pass but I haven't got any news from them in three days.

Due date still progressing normally and we will confirm the sex of the child on next ultrasound. It appears to be a girl but we will see next week.

Hahaha I actually did laugh but did stay home because unfortunately in Costa Rica, the predominance of "nation's best interest" in what regards to health care matters trumps the constitution... hence we could have in fact been fined for not following the sanitary order.

Treat Covid as a seasonal flu, and you'll be fine. Ignore the panic media. Is flu dangerous? Yes. Is Covid dangerous? Yes. Any respiratory disease can lead to a pneumonia, which is dangerous. Pneumonia can kill you, and even if not, it can scar your lungs forever.

Here in the US, we test, test, test, and then just send people home, as if there is nothing they can do but wait and hope to not get REALLY sick and then have to get hospitalized. Not sure how it is there.

Anyways, there IS things you can do, and a group of doctors at the Baylor college of Medicine (highly respected in texas) put together a plan for taking care of yourself at home. It's a multi-tiered approach that hits all the possible ways that a respiratory disease can get to you, not just trying one thing and saying, "Didn't work for THIS guy, so it's a fail."

Some of those items - zinc, querectin (sp?) are available OTC, and you should take those as well as her. An ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure.

Many positive tests are in fact flu, or some other coronavirus. Further, depending in her vax status they may be running cycles above recommended limits to get a positive result. She likely just has RSV. Best of luck with the rest of the pregnancy. May your child be born very healthy

This was my concern. I don't think I implied any panic on my post. Though my wife was in fact quite scared - and again, for the baby.
