Question for phone fags.

submitted by MrPancake to technology 2.8 yearsAug 8, 2021 21:08:50 ago (+8/-0)     (technology)

The Mrs and I are sporting old generation Galaxy phones (S6/7). We will need to replace them before too long. Anyone know of a good Linux or De-Googled Android phone? Do not need access to an app store; need basics: Calculator, Timer/Alarm, Phone calls, SMS, web browser and email client.

What's special about it?

You could buy a Librem 5 which from a marketing perspective is supposed to be the most private. But it could just as likely be a Fed phone like others before it and like any other phone could be. The fact is no network connected device can really be trusted.

Look up Pegasus and it's newer upgraded version. ((They)) can push spyware to any device and are recording all internet data in real time. So basically, no that doesn't exist anymore

How about an Android or flip phone from Tracfone?

Why do you need a new phone? What features are you missing? Why can I run with a janky fuck until the battery swells and do 100x the things you do and you need a new device?

The answer is simple:

Install LineageOS and don't flash google apps. Pay a local kid to do it if you're too retarded to follow a tutorial.

All phones come with google shitware out of the box. There's simply no market otherwise. If you want to degoogle, you must flash your own OS. You have your answer. Now go out and buy the latest biggest phone for $1000 and lock yourself into a 2 year shit contract and never degoogle like you claim you want to because nobody did it for you.

Battery life; the batteries are not replaceable. I am not looking for new and shiny just something minimalistic that is new so I can pull another 8 or so years out of it.

Try loading up your custom Android distribution instead. LineageOS is the most popular, but there's tons of others that may be privacy-centric too. By doing so, you can get the latest version of Android, yet remove yourself of all that bloat.

I'm 52, and I've never owned a cell phone. Try that.

Fuck off.

You are either All in or All out.

There is no "safe" middleground. Despite these techtards claims otherwise.

Didn't ask for safe, asked for minimalistic. I do appreciate you using my post in an attempt to teach yourself to read though; keep trying, you will get there!
