That's what makes Django such a brilliant musician. He had the music within him, and the loss of two fingers didn't hold him back.
It's always the constraints, restrictions, and limitations that serve to make good art. Free form art is always worthless, whether it's abstract art or free verse like Walt Whitman. Bach intentionally placed incredible constraints on his composition (like The Art of the Fugue or the Goldberg Variations) and doing so showed his genius transcended form and formality.
In this vein, one also thinks of Ravel's Piano Concerto for the Left Hand.
I admire Djangos determination. And when I'm in the mood, only Django will do.
"Free form art is always worthless, whether it's abstract art or free verse like Walt Whitman."
I disagree w that. I'm not a poet so I wont speak to that, but most abstract visual art has rules. Cubism has rules. Impressionism has rules. The only thing I can think of that had no rules was DaDa/Surrealism. Pollock I suppose, but he's a bit of an outlier. For the most part though each school of abstraction had a set of rules.
But it's kind of a tiresome subject. Most people don't want to actually have a discussion. They've already decided they don't like abstract things and wont change their minds.

You make some good points. I'm fond of Impressionism, and there's some Cubism I like, and I agree, there is some formalism involved, a philosophy the artists developed as each art form became more defined and distinguishable. I find that the more abstract an art form -- and your example of Pollack is an excellent one -- the less actual talent is required to create it. Even graphic design has rules, and often the more they are adhered to, the better the design is. Modern art doesn't even have that level of design, particularly conceptual art.
I agree with your last statement. I'm pretty set in my thinking. I'm not going to tell anyone their taste or preference in art is wrong (de gustibus and all that) and I'm not interested in changing anyone's mind, but an exchange of perspectives can be enjoyable.
On my sunday morning ELSM thing I've been throwing in some short art docs. I've kept it pretty low key. Old school realism or a couple Impressionists only in that sub during ELSM hours.
I've been tempted to post more controversial stuff. Rothko would probably get me death threats.

I watched them, and I enjoyed them. Just wanted you to know. Sometimes when you don't get much feedback, you wonder why you even bother to post at all.
Sounds like a great argument for freedom of shitposting as an underappreciated artwork in this tyrannical censorship honeypot that disgraces the Voat name.
So you're saying degeneracy is ok if you're European?
If you haven't gotten it yet I'm drawing a parallel. Why is Iommi ok if he was a degenerate? Or do you need to burn all your original pressing Sabbath vinyl?
I'm pointing out your double standard and that's all I am doing. You aren't alone. Most everyone here enjoys music and other art made by terrible people. Terrible people often make really good art. Most of the classical artists weren't any better. It's just kind of a rule, terrible people often make really good art.
You're going to have to do w that information whatever you will.
Django was a gypsy. I mean a real gypsy. He traveled around Europe in one of those gypsy covered wagons you might see in an old movie. They traveled around making music. One night there was an accident and his wagon turned over. An oil lamp smashed and caught fire. His hand was trapped by debris and was badly burned fusing wis pinky and 4th finger. He was left w like 2.5 fingers and they told him he'd never play again He said fuck that and fuck you and is now a guitar legend.

All gypsies go in the oven.
Django can go last.
