Most places do now. I rarely fry food but when I do I use lard.

Most all of mayonnaise, salad dressings, BBQ sauce & other condiments use soybean oil as the primary ingredient. Wherever they can use it now, they do.

Really? I’ve never seen any big signs saying avoid if you have a peanut allergy

Kensington mayo uses sunflower oil. Duke's, Hellmann's, Kraft, etc all use soybean oil.

[ - ] eongoat 1 point 3.9 yearsAug 6, 2021 18:45:05 ago (+1/-0)

Hellmann's has a yellow lid mix that uses Canola.

[ - ] SilentByAssociation 1 point 3.9 yearsAug 6, 2021 20:33:03 ago (+1/-0)

Kensington is pretty good. I'll sometimes use Vegenaise if Kensington is out of stock, but only the Avocado Oil based product. The others are garbage, and the safflower oil isn't a good thing. Vegetable oils cause inflammation in the body, hence the majority of the normie slobs in the US.

Didn’t realize it was that simple.

Do you know the importance of lemon juice? Or just for flavor

[ - ] seeker 2 points 3.9 yearsAug 6, 2021 23:45:56 ago (+2/-0)

Lemon juice is the acid that folds the egg proteins, causing them to thicken.

[ - ] GoatsAdvocate 1 point 3.9 yearsAug 7, 2021 01:30:37 ago (+1/-0)

Ah like adding baking powder or baking soda

[ - ] Kozel 2 points 3.9 yearsAug 7, 2021 01:23:13 ago (+2/-0)

it stabilizes the mixture and gives a kick to flavor

It’s important to verify where your lard comes from. If it’s generic pigs, then I’m sorry to tell you, you might as well be eating soybean oil. They feed pigs a diet very very high in soybean oil. Pigs and chicken are the types of animals that would store the fat in their diet in the same format. Ruminants can change their fat profile to a degree. Pigs and chicken are also kept in dark dingy crowded pens and coops. They are usually very unhealthy because of this. Ruminants have to be let out at least 50% of the time or they can’t live.
Unless your lard comes from wild board (unlikely because they are leaner), or pristine heritage pigs, you are probably not better off. Have you thought of using beef tallow instead? Even coconut oil is good but I can’t stand the smell and the taste.

So pigs are huge soy larpers?

[ - ] SparklingWiggle 0 points 3.9 yearsAug 8, 2021 09:03:50 ago (+0/-0)

No wonder they don't have tusks, unless they escape the farm.

[ - ] Ragnar 0 points 3.9 yearsAug 8, 2021 09:43:41 ago (+0/-0)

Yep, but not by choice

[ - ] KCobain27 0 points 3.9 yearsAug 7, 2021 14:51:17 ago (+0/-0)

Damn. I've considered tallow but lard is just cheaper & more available. Good thing I rarely fry stuff. I should get some peanut oil for homemade french fries.

[ - ] Ragnar 1 point 3.9 yearsAug 8, 2021 09:47:06 ago (+1/-0)

Okay, you are going to hate me, but peanut oil is just as bad because it’s a nut. You can get tallow from your local butcher and it’s only a tiny bit more expensive than lard. Use tallow and some butter for all your cooking, not just frying.

[ - ] KCobain27 0 points 3.8 yearsAug 14, 2021 15:24:10 ago (+0/-0)

Nah I don't hate anyone for giving advice. There are many more cows where I am than pigs, so I will look into it. My concern would be how it fairs being left at room temperature in the deep fryer while not being used. I looked it up and it said that it should be kept in an airtight container, which the deep fryer isn't. Not sure how much it would oxidize before I replace it.

[ - ] Ragnar 0 points 3.8 yearsAug 14, 2021 23:51:34 ago (+0/-0)

Seed and nut oils oxidise and go rancid much faster and worse. It’s a fact that google suppresses. Even olive oil oxidises and should never be used for cooking.
Yes, I would advise against letting the fat sit in the deep fryer. But I usually do keep my tallow out at room temperature and use it in a week’s time

I get this stuff: https://www.sirkensingtons.com/product/mayonnaise

Made with Sunflower Oil.

Full list: Sunflower Oil, Organic Certified Humane Free Range Egg Yolks, Water, Distilled Vinegar, Salt, Fair Trade Organic Cane Sugar, Organic Lemon Juice, Citric Acid, Lemon Oil.

I also have another brand that uses avocado oil, which is good too. I prefer the sunflower oil though. I could make mayo myself but I rarely use it.

I stopped eating soy about 6 years ago. I now get IBS for 2 days after eating soybean oil. My muscle mass increased DRASTICALLY without any exercise change. My face matured and became broader and more defined.

Soy is incredibly unhealthy. Interesting note: soy sauce doesn't fuck with me. It's the fermentation I think.

[ - ] Clubberlang 0 points 3.9 yearsAug 6, 2021 22:58:14 ago (+0/-0)

Congratulations you're over 21

[ - ] Had 0 points 3.9 yearsAug 7, 2021 09:55:19 ago (+0/-0)

I cut soy in my 30s. I'm an old fucker.

Probably meant more pronounced.

[ - ] Doglegwarrior 0 points 3.9 yearsAug 6, 2021 21:52:23 ago (+0/-0)

Ever seen an older female body builder? Their bone structure 100% changes and can happen in dudes it doesn't happen over night but over years of lifting yes it does

[ - ] AndrewBlazeIt 1 point 3.9 yearsAug 6, 2021 21:54:07 ago (+1/-0)

without any exercise change.

[ - ] Had 0 points 3.9 yearsAug 7, 2021 09:54:47 ago (+0/-0)

I've been lifting for years but didn't cut soy. Once I cut estrogen from my diet, it increased my T, which increased my bone density. https://elitehealthonline.com/bone-density-and-testosterone-men-heres-what-you-need-to-know/

When I say broader, I mean my facial features are more pronounced and the density has increased. Broader is a succinct way of phrasing this. My muscle mass increased substantially after cutting soy from my life.

It's not a meme. Soyboys look like bitches because of low testosterone and high estrogen. My face has drastically changed. I looked far younger and immature, and now I look like an actual grown ass man. And it isn't just natural aging, I was in my 30s when I quit soy. I was clearly done growing and developing, but I was holding myself back by taking a constant supply of estrogen via soy.

Did he edit or are you misquoting?

They have been using it for years, it has the highest smoke point for the cost.

[ - ] Spaceman84 0 points 3.9 yearsAug 6, 2021 18:25:47 ago (+0/-0)

It's dirt cheap due to subsidies. Canola should be used instead.

[ - ] AndrewBlazeIt 2 points 3.9 yearsAug 6, 2021 18:35:49 ago (+2/-0)

Canola is ALSO extremely unhealthy.

[ - ] Ragnar 0 points 3.9 yearsAug 6, 2021 21:20:21 ago (+0/-0)

Canola is extremely unhealthy too. As a rule you should avoid seed oils as much as possible

gave my phone number to the cashier - because they text you when the order is ready. for weeks after that, received a bunch of spam marketing calls. anyone else experience this?

[ - ] v0atmage 0 points 3.9 yearsAug 6, 2021 18:54:35 ago (+0/-0)

Fun fact: McDonalds switched from lard to peanut oil to some crap oil today and each change corresponded to more obese Americans.

[ - ] Ragnar 1 point 3.9 yearsAug 6, 2021 21:29:07 ago (+1/-0)

They had the McDonald’s movie on Netflix (i know I’m a pos for watching Netflix) anyway, the movie was really good and made me sad for the original McDonald brothers who founded the business

[ - ] SparklingWiggle 0 points 3.9 yearsAug 8, 2021 09:10:20 ago (+0/-0)

Fun fact: McDonald's is fucking gross.
