"Vehicles would be required to include systems “passively and accurately detect whether the blood alcohol concentration of a driver of a motor vehicle is equal to or greater than the blood alcohol concentration” of .08, according to the legislation. The systems would include cameras to monitor head and eye movement, and would be required to “prevent or limit vehicle operation” users failed the test."

Gonna retrofit 100 million cars, huh?

Yeah, sure.

[ - ] allahead [op] 9 points 3.8 yearsAug 5, 2021 17:24:37 ago (+9/-0)

To be required on new cars.

[ - ] lord_nougat 5 points 3.8 yearsAug 5, 2021 21:16:18 ago (+5/-0)

Goddam. The used car market is going to get WAY CRAZIER! And everything used is already crazy overpriced most of the time now!

[ - ] allahead [op] 2 points 3.8 yearsAug 6, 2021 12:55:55 ago (+2/-0)

I heard somewhere they're going to roll out the "cars for cash" federal program again to further destroy the used car market and force people to buy new.

Not if you're fast enough. The chase of a good deal starts with not sleeping at the wheel arriving number one.

Take a step back and look at the bigger picture: this isn't about public safety; it's about adding so many extra hoops to jump through to own and operate a vehicle that Americans will just give up through sheer exasperation.

Who is to pay for the operation and upkeep of the equipment?
Will the driver be on the hook for the data connection?
Will the interlocks be a subscription-based service, as they are currently?
Will there be annual certifications required, much like some states now require for emissions and safety?
How will the interlock disable the car -- will a service technician accompanied by LEO need to unlock it on-site after the driver passes a field sobriety and breathalyzer test?
With the ability to shut down your vehicle, remotely, will they take the right to shut it down for other things, such as being late on child support or not having auto insurance current?
Who will pay for all that?
The owner of the vehicle will.

I could go on, but the point stands: exactly in line with the Biden administration's stated goal of eliminating internal combustion engines (and, ostensibly, vehicle ownership in general,) they are setting the bar so high for vehicle ownership that, eventually, many will not even try.

Once they get the system of control in, they'll be as despotic as possible.

[ - ] Sleazy 2 points 3.8 yearsAug 6, 2021 06:22:47 ago (+2/-0)

what?

[ - ] allahead [op] 0 points 3.8 yearsAug 6, 2021 12:52:37 ago (+0/-0)

Once they have a system in your car that can remotely monitor you and turn off your car at will, they will put all sorts of restraints on your behavior and take your car away if you "mis-behave".

But but but the safety! think of the safety!!

Soon they will be showing 24/7 on cnn White male drunk drivers.

biden's handlers want to end all private property ownership entirely.

Just look at the new "eviction moratorium". All of these illegals live in your hose now, goy. Deal with it!

'Sens. Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI), Tom Udall (D-NM), and Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) are championing the clause from the Democratic side of the aisle, alongside Republicans including Sen. Rick Scott (FL) and Rep. David McKinley (WV).'

It's the libs, goy /s

Anyone remember the whole catalytic converter thing? What did we do to it to keep the car running... PUNCH A HOLE IN IT. LOL This will just be another system that could break down and keep me from using my car. Guess I'll need to figure out how to rewire/unplug the thing.

[ - ] Spiral_Out 2 points 3.8 yearsAug 5, 2021 23:46:18 ago (+2/-0)

Ya that's definitely wrong, but drop the booze. Does nothing for you but empty your wallet and drain your health. Sure low-dose is euphoric and blissful, but med-high dose are depressants.

[ - ] allahead [op] 0 points 3.8 yearsAug 6, 2021 13:06:21 ago (+0/-0)

The booze is just an excuse to get remote monitoring and shutoff in every car, then the system will be abused for every possible reason.

You'll own nothing, and you'll be happy.

[ - ] Sleazy 0 points 3.8 yearsAug 6, 2021 06:24:04 ago (+0/-0)

maybe you will but either i will be dead or they will

[ - ] recon_johnny 0 points 3.8 yearsAug 6, 2021 06:50:22 ago (+0/-0)

Clearly you've heard of this before. It's their agenda. Klaus Schwab.

[ - ] Sleazy 0 points 3.8 yearsAug 6, 2021 06:51:02 ago (+0/-0)

obviously

still...

[ - ] recon_johnny 0 points 3.8 yearsAug 6, 2021 07:04:06 ago (+0/-0)

Just repeating their ultimate agenda, manny. So we're all aware of their end goal.

[ - ] Sleazy 0 points 3.8 yearsAug 6, 2021 07:05:57 ago (+0/-0)

their end goal is 6000 nigger slaves per jew and no white people in the world. i know

[ - ] recon_johnny 0 points 3.8 yearsAug 6, 2021 12:43:27 ago (+0/-0)

*6 gorillion.

[ - ] Flabbygasted 2 points 3.8 yearsAug 5, 2021 17:21:47 ago (+3/-1)

Not gonna happen. Even if passed, what kind of retard is gonna go door to door to fuck with armed Americans vehicles? Logistically impossible. However it does open the door to requiring the devices for new vehicles.

[ - ] allahead [op] 5 points 3.8 yearsAug 5, 2021 17:24:06 ago (+5/-0)

It's for new vehicles. They want see what's going on in the car at all times or they'll turn it off remotely.

[ - ] PeckerwoodPerry 8 points 3.8 yearsAug 5, 2021 17:42:14 ago (+8/-0)

Wouldn't that disproportionately disadvantage vehicle operators of color?

I need a shower after typing that.

[ - ] Hadza 2 points 3.8 yearsAug 6, 2021 03:05:34 ago (+2/-0)

No, because the AI will recognize them as gorillas and only whitey will be affected

[ - ] Flabbygasted 4 points 3.8 yearsAug 5, 2021 17:40:38 ago (+4/-0)

Oh, gotcha. The quote provided didnt specify new vehicles. Considering the quality of new vehicles (for under 25k) these days, I will only buy older cars.

[ - ] La_Chalupacabra 4 points 3.8 yearsAug 5, 2021 19:07:12 ago (+4/-0)

Is this why they're phasing out 3G for cellphones; to free up the bandwidth needed to remotely monitor millions of vehicles?
And imagine how many people it will take to man the monitoring stations.

[ - ] allahead [op] 1 point 3.8 yearsAug 5, 2021 20:12:09 ago (+1/-0)

They'll use A.I.

[ - ] La_Chalupacabra 0 points 3.8 yearsAug 5, 2021 20:13:53 ago (+0/-0)

If so, it's gonna be a shitshow.
