I've done that in cat 1 hurricanes, minus the rope. The danger isn't the wind or rain, it's the debris flying everywhere. You do not want to get hit in the face with a branch going 30mph.

I've witnessed a T5 tornado send a stalk of hay with enough force to penetrate completely through the trunk of a mature tree.

Nature is scary.

Physics, I guess. I'm too dumb to understand how, but the evidence was there plain as my eyes could see.
