I learned about them on old voat and now that’s all I use. It’s way cheaper to just buy blades and swap them out than to buy some bullshit plastic bic set. Plus my grandfather used one and those old fucks usually know how to do shit right.

I've give one away, a van der Hagen I got at Walmart the razor wasn't to bad but I didn't like their blades some of the worst ones I've tried

Have you tried shave butter shaving cream? Best I've used. I know, van der Hagen but it really is fantastic!

I imagine that total freedom of movement with all that steel could either be amazing or turn into an unpleasant experience.

The most common reservation I hear from folks considering safety razors is that of... well... safety. It seems scary to them because they're unfamiliar with it.

Let me ask you, and any other straight razor folks who care to chime in: In your experience, how hard is it to learn without completely fucking yourself up?

Cut myself a couple of times getting started. Haven't looked back. I have absolutely zero cost to shaving other than soap/cream. I hone my own razor so I know how to maintain a blade, which is a very useful skill. Higher up front costs, much more capable results. Haven't had an in-grown hair since I started with a straight razor. Was a new puck I picked up as I was in Minneapolis, and was able to go to a "shave store" I wouldn't recommend it it's ok soap but way over priced and Gillette bought them out

i just made a joke, but thanks for the info.. i shave with a gillette mach three using regular shaving cream, only after a shower. works fine and i can easily clean it... i rub my thimb over the blades after every cut to smoothen the egdes, like a stonecutter does with its tools... blades last way longer that way.

yet theres parts of my face that dont like shaving, so i keep my beard around my mouth.

I just use a dry, two bladed disposable. It's generally been used at least three times, and it occupies the section of the bathroom vanity that I get mad at my wife if she fucks with it.

Maybe I don't understand, but that looks like a lot of work to remove hair from your face? Are you not physically able to dry shave?

Your disposable sucks dick. If you have not tried a true double edge, you have no idea of the difference. I normally just take mine into the shower and don't use lather. But if you actually want to spend ten minutes to enjoy shaving, use the lather. It smells nice. You feel pleasant shaving. It is an enjoyable experience once in a while. Every day ruins the enjoyment after a bit.

Yeah, that's kinda my point. Like if you can grow a beard like that, you just have a few places to clean up twice a week. I don't need a kit to do that, and I certainly don't need a brush and special soap. Beard trimmers, now? I can get into those.

If I go more then a day I'd clog anything with more then one blade, I used Bic single blade disposable for some time the I couldn't find them in the stores around me anymore so looked up safety razors and I love them now
