Can you explain this comic?

Yes, Americans waste their time away in a service industry, producing nothing of real value, meanwhile the economy turns. We have been pushed largely into a dependent society by handlers.

The bicycle gave me freedom. The government has only tried to take it away.

Pedestrians do stimulate the shoe economy though.

Thus the resurgence of leather soled shoes.

If the shoes are repairable though that would stick it to them chinks & help local business at the same time. Most shoes made today aren't repairable.

That’s broken window theory though no? Hospitals and the like may be necessary but they are not productive. I really don’t like GDP as an economic measure and hate that it has become so ubiquitous. Balance of trade (except for the US) is a far better indicator of the true health of an economy. Domestic economic activity isn’t always beneficial to the economy or society, but it’s all included in GDP/GNP figures.

That's exactly how the parasite "experts" cogitate for their vain glory.

Then they go prop up a wind up nobody to be their puppet politician and do as they say.

I never see bicyclists out in the rain or winter. Fuck this gay bullshit. All these cyclists have cars or alternative modes of transportation.

I walk in winter, and I have seen cyclists in winter too, with those thick winter tires. But they are very rare and I think they are crazy.

Bicyclists get hit by cars all the time. And boy is it expensive

[ - ] GoatsAdvocate 2 points 2.8 yearsAug 2, 2021 18:18:07 ago (+2/-0)

Not nearly as expensive when vehicles hit each other.

And let’s see, they have to go to the hospital. Then both cars need to be repaired. Insurance is highly involved in both. And the cycle continues generating money for everyone at the top.

[ - ] solomonpapermaster 3 points 2.8 yearsAug 2, 2021 19:29:11 ago (+3/-0)

Depends to whom. The problem with cyclists being hit is that the state will bare the blunt of the medical costs. At least in Canada, I don't know in the US.

[ - ] bonghits4jeebus 2 points 2.8 yearsAug 2, 2021 22:49:32 ago (+2/-0)

Depends. If you manage not to die, the injuries from a bike accident are quite expensive. Can also be just as bad from a car accident, but it depends on what happens. My point is, none of it is free.

[ - ] GoatsAdvocate 3 points 2.8 yearsAug 2, 2021 23:39:16 ago (+3/-0)

I’d wager most bike injuries are not lethal. Since accidents are going to be in the city low speed limits.
Healthcare costs are going to expensive, but only for 1 party, and the car damage is minimal.

For 2 cars, there’s more than double the expenses involved with a bicycle.

I understand. My point is, one doesn’t generate as much money as the other.

I walk too! But I will eventually need a car... You kinda do when you start a family.

[ - ] Hadza 1 point 2.8 yearsAug 4, 2021 00:21:42 ago (+1/-0)

Can be fixed with proper urbanism and maybe interdependency on neighbours

[ - ] joesfoot 2 points 2.8 yearsAug 2, 2021 21:58:34 ago (+2/-0)

Be happy you don't live in a city. I've never walked or biked to work either.
