Where does the money for this site come from? Why no transparency?

How much could 1 million pageviews/day cost? Catbox guy pays $1100/month at this point. 600 comes out of his own pocket. Is that worthy of suspicion?

CAtbox distribute over 90 times as much data as a non-image web site that serves limited images.

catbox even streams videos

Only a divisive kike would try to cause "divide and conquer" suspicion here.

I know you’re retarded. I don’t expect you to be able to see that because you’re retarded. Do you think it’s suspicious that cats pays so much per month to host or not?

[ - ] try 0 points 2.8 yearsAug 2, 2021 09:52:02 ago (+2/-2)

your reading comprehension is low, and misunderstanding simple english.

I was not calling YOU a divisive kike, but now I seem I should.

If you read again what you wrote, it’s not very clear. I don’t know why I would assume you’re talking to someone else when you are replying to my comment instead of the parent thread.
Ok we can be frens again and I won’t call you retarded for at least 6 weeks.

And I quote: “ Only a divisive kike would try to cause "divide and conquer" suspicion here.”

I find it suspicious that you believe $600 a month for his pet project is a lot of money. Have you ever had a hobby that got the attention of a million people before? Have you ever started a buisness before? When you're motivated you'll find a way to come up with the money, and $600 to do what he's doing is dirt cheap. If wikipedia and NPR can find ways to get millions from donors, catbox will find his 1100 every month.

[ - ] heygeorge 0 points 2.8 yearsAug 2, 2021 11:01:06 ago (+0/-0)

He doesn’t get 1100 every month. It’s all out in the open. The entire point is that suspicion is being thrown towards where the funding for this site comes from. I am throwing out an example of a site (popular with users of this site) that seemingly no one questions. I don’t think $600/month is crazy (although it’s a decent chunk of change), but once cats gets himself a family he won’t be tossing that money out to internet denizens lest he is also significantly wealthy.

I don't believe $600 a month to a passion requires significant wealth. I'm not significantly wealthy by any standard, but I'm considering spending $400 a month to keep my boat docked so I can avoid the hassle of a trailer each time. Once you're past a hump in life where you hunker down and delete all your debt, you've got a low mortgage and here you are still earning decent money with your spouse, suddenly a new world of options opens up. I always believed the only vehicle you can afford, is the one you can buy with cash today. No loans, no leases, why bring in a Jew to the middle-man lender position, he's not required. Work hard, live dirt cheap, split up your rent 6 ways, save your fucking money. Then suddenly you'll realize you're in a situation with a pile of money saved, you own your vehicles, you put 20% down on your mortgage, no PMI insurance necessary, and you still have all that income flying in. The mistake of Americans is acting nigger rich, they decide they want a new car, new house and new furniture all within a few years and they borrow for each item and begin a perpetual debt spiral which never ends, they assume being in debt is part of life. It's not. They were tricked. It's ok to be tricked sometimes, but you must end the bamboozle of your life. Erase all debt by any means, sell off bullshit, and regain control. Then here's the hard part, once your debt is gone, you continue living the same way for a few more years piling up savings. Always maintain at least 20 grand in your checking as if that's your zero balance. That's a minimum. Always top off your IRA accounts, that's worth millions at 65 regardless of your employers gay 401k

That’s all well and good for you, but you didn’t get to where you are by doling out 600/month hosting images.

You are also referencing a two income family, which typically doesn’t leave a lot of room for raising a family.

You don't know what stage of life Mr Catbox is at. You're assuming he's young and has no financial support. You're also assuming that an angel investor hasn't stepped up yet and actually covered him for the next 5 years, and his costs ticker each month is really just his rent and grocery bill to help out. Costs can mean a lot to different people.

[ - ] heygeorge 0 points 2.8 yearsAug 2, 2021 12:19:32 ago (+0/-0)

I actually do know what stage of life cats is at, chatting casually off and on through the past few years, and reading his blog.

I don’t see why he would suddenly begin a ruse, when he has been previously upfront about wanting donut money.

How much could 1 million pageviews/day cost?

Answer dependent entirely on performance of said 1m page-views.

On Justin's old dogshit Voat, $50/m.

On this one, maybe $100/m.

[ - ] heygeorge 0 points 2.8 yearsAug 2, 2021 11:37:47 ago (+0/-0)

@boogienight thinks it’s $100/year. Old Voat was paying a lot more than $50/month but it was… not the most efficient when it comes to server resources. Don’t forget that Justin also had a huge target on his back.

[ - ] out 0 points 2.8 yearsAug 4, 2021 16:25:59 ago (+0/-0)

I'm still convinced you are Justin, honestly.

[ - ] heygeorge 0 points 2.8 yearsAug 4, 2021 22:03:01 ago (+0/-0)

This is not my first time hearing this, honestly.

The entire story around Mick and the conversion from Reddit in the Whoaverse days all aligns too perfectly.

Would make an ideal handler for the weaponized autism, with the right personas.

If you are, it's pretty masterful. I'm always impressed by that level of sophistry.

Thank you. One thing that is certain is Mick is truly legendary. Regards, heygeorge

Do you know how fucking cheap it is to run a site like this? 100% of webhosting packages which only cost $100 a year give you things like cpanel to manage 100gb of database, php built in, sql built in, phpmyadmin to manage it, cron tools for automation, and we're talking about 100gb of text storage on database for free. This voat might be as little as $100 per year to keep running. It doesn't have enough traffic to merit raised costs, every post is a simple entry in a text database as a child to the OP's topic which is another entry in a database. The images and videos linked are someone elses bandwidth problem because they're external links, voat doesn't host images or video. You act like you stumbled on a multi-million dollar operation in the desert. Any full stack web developer can build their own voat, and probably save a lot of time from commonly used designs in forum building.
