How is it a right to repair when the vast majority products are inaccessible? Most manuals are only English and Spanish, but this leaves out a huge portion of the world. iPhones should have larger screws for the elderly/blind and wheelchair ramps. And the accessibility gap disproportionately affects blacks who may lack the expertise to fix their iphones. We can do better.

How completely fucked up is it when you need to special law to say you can change a screw on something you bought and you own?

The end is nigh. Really fucking nigh.

I am suspicious of this law of "right" to repair.

I have a feeling it is a tactic for more control or to kill the small guy.

it's incomplete afaik, doesn't apply to commercial vehicles like John Deere tractors

This is how I've felt about it too. iFixIt push Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren as being heroes in this "Right to Repair" movement.

You have a right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Sucks that Apple designed their products in a way that you can't replace the home button without losing TouchID and the whole thing with FaceID not working if that part of the phone being torn but I've had to deal with this for 4+ years.

to say you can change a screw

Is that the point of this? No. Go to Poal if you need to clutch pearls.
