Correct. While back, one of my relatives (white guy, war vet) was at a crowded function in Missouri. He'd earlier warned douchfuck, fella named Cummings that he'd earlier served with...Jim Cummins I believe, to not fuck with his pet raccoon, but douchfuck had ignored the warning. As douchfuck wandered over to crow about it, relative pulled a pistol out and took the quick shot from 3 feet away. Pistol was knocked down by the sheriff he'd been talking too and the round clipped another person in the foot. In short order the party was back in full swing and relative got hauled into jail.

Next day was released, no one wanted to press charges. Douch was also a bit of a stand up guy (all those fuckers were pretty tough and quite folks, except for Cummins), and Cummins, ever the douchwad, commented in laughter something like: "If he can't hit me from 3 feet away, I don't think I have anything to worry about", but he shut the fuck up and calmed down a bit too.

Relative stayed free and lived long and prospered. Well, he lived long. Congress only passes laws. And more laws. They don't seem to ever make them go away, and thus, every damned one of you is likely a lawbreaker. Didn't use to be that way.
