This is why it's absolutely useless to have registered firearms when the government is your enemy during civil unrest or civil war. They'll know who are armed and they will come for it. Illegal purchase is the only way to go under the radar, and even that has it's risks. How about crossbows? Can you stock up that, paid in cash anonymously?

Yeah, I get that it's not optimal. I meant in addition to privately purchased firearms. I guess you have to make do with whatever you can get your hands on. Prepare molotov cocktails etc.
