Subtitles for europa : the last battle

submitted by OvenBakedGem to whatever 3.9 yearsJul 21, 2021 10:41:55 ago (+8/-0)     (whatever)

I have a few people that i know would be interested in watching the documentary, but 12 hours in english with no subtitles can be a bit hard if the person isn't exactly fluent. Anyone know where i can find subtitles ? French ones would be ideal.

Looks like this is the best English version:
https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/subtitles/7872828/europa-the-last-battle-en

no French there, I'll see what else I can find

edit: couldn't find any French subs - I can tell you on usenet movies with French dubbed audio and generally centered around the French language will have "MULTI" in the name - but I couldn't find a version myself

maybe there is a program that will take the English srt file, translate it, and generate a new French srt file? It probably wouldn't be great but it is something/an idea - you could of course do this manually but it would be quite the task!

Thanks for the reply. Translating the thing myself is an idea, that would sure be a project, not sure where to find the technical how to tho. Am I really the first french to want a french translation ? That's kinda depressing.

I just did the first srt file of the "best English version" I linked with this site: https://translatesubtitles.com/

Seems to work just fine, it uses jewgle translate which is probably one of the best.

This was the output file for part 1, Eng to Fre: https://a.pomf.cat/echyxx.srt

The site is pretty easy to use, so I am sure you can do the rest yourself. If for some reason you can't I suppose I can do the other parts. In the zip file you download from opensubtitles.org there are 2 srt files for some of the parts - they may be more accurate depending on the original video file you have.

So just download the zip file, extras the srt files, upload them one at a time and translate them each using that site.
