Bitcoin millionaire Erik Finman answers critics from Left & Right calling Freedom Phone a "scam".

Since Freedom Phone’s announcement and launch last Wednesday, promising a product free of Big Tech censorship and surveillance, the company has garnered universal criticism from the left and some criticism from the right (notably Reason Magazine’s notoriously Pro-Big-Tech Robby Soave).
Freedom Phone’s Founder Erik Finman agreed to an extensive interview with National File to respond to those who call the venture a “grift” or “scam”.
They had to rewrite the software to replace the Google Play store with their own app store (to include Gab, Parler, etc).
It takes time, money, resources to create & manage your own app store. For example, Microsoft's Surface Duo runs Android, but Microsoft is still using the Google Play app store because it's easier.
let's look at the second largest android app store, the amazon app store just to drive home the point how pointless this is:
music recognition app? Shazam - not available official Reddit app for the normies? not available uber? nope any banking app - forget it local or even national transit apps? lol
you see where i'm going with this? and this isn't a matter of just distributing the apk's, google has been creating their walled garden called google play services for years, not even amazon is trying to compete with that
all this meme phone will have is right wing social media apps
Either way, I think Amazon's app store is mainly for Amazon tablets, so some smartphone oriented-apps might be missing.

When I look at the app store for e.foundation / esolutions.shop (which sells DeGoogled Android phones), they do seem to have apps like Shazam, Uber, Reddit, Revolut, Zoom, Spotify, Podcast Addict, etc.
I didn't find it, but that is version 3.12 on amazon, play store version is at 4.3, could be abandoned
the closest result on /e/ for Shazam is "Lyrics Shazam : Music Lyrics Finder" which is some random guy's trademark infringement.
Those /e/ apk's are ripped from somewhere else and provided as is, they don't "just work" without the spyware that is google play services, basic shit like push notifications don't work without it and apps don't have a fallback solution.
/e/ is closer to getting it right but still no cigar. the freedomphone is just hopium
edit: forgot to mention SafetyNet, without it banking apps like Revolut won't work, even some chat apps refuse to work, if you're not running unrooted, Google-certified Android you're unlikely to get past SafetyNet checks

Anyone pushing a product that repeatedly uses 'basically what we did was .... ' when asked technical terms - gets a big FCk No thanks from me. Imo Phones a gimmick. Big tech like Apple, at least provide a detailed spec sheet for their product, not this guy .... 'just trust me', lol.
