I used to shop at a farmer's market where an Amish guy had a stand. He sold eggs, bacon, and cheese, etc. Come to find out he'd have the equivalent of a shabbos goy drive him to the farmer's market since he wasn't allowed to operate a vehicle.

Then I found out that some Amish will use non-Amish neighbors' freezers to store food since they're not allowed to have such electrical appliances themselves (rather than keep an ice house). So.. not much different than what Jews do. That was a bummer.

But hey! I hope you and that gal fall in love and have lots of beautiful babies together.

Up North we have Hutterites.

They're self sufficient, dress modestly. But they don't shun technology like the Amish. They'll do things like own vehicles, but they take out the radio so they don't listen to "the Devil's music".

Growing up we saw them as backwards for not owning TVs. But now I see that they've got everything figured out.

They’re so famously self sufficient it’s easy to forget they’re not machinery. And forget that living that way is probly pretty hard for some of them. Not all of them are exactly as prosperous, or live in areas exactly as left alone by the government as others do.
And they’re still 5000 years of subversion and pedophilia away from deserving to be compared to the tribe.

The local Mennonite store has THE best butter ever. Better fruits and vegetables than most stores too and the prices are about the same. There are some specialty things that are better. Baked goods and honey for instance. Girls also dress very modestly, wear little hats too.

I always see Mennonite folks in truck stops. Almost never anywhere else. For some reason they love to stop at truck stops. I’m a trucker so that’s my excuse.

It was a touch screen dealy, with a built-in card reader.... not what I was expecting.

Prices were fine, nothing to write home about.
