If you don't have a natural water source then get that sorted out asap. I finally have a rainwater system that has such surplus I can take rainwater baths whenever I want, it's infinitely better than a chemical filled hot-tub. Gardening also requires stupid amounts of fresh water, so get it set up. Best of luck to you mate, it's a life worth working for.

"rainwater baths". I've got a solar shower hanging off the verandah which I fill up with hot water from the bathroom proper - works a treat; a nicer place to be (among the ferns and leeches)and...and no f..king cleaning required!

Wood fired cast iron tub for me, holy fuck I love that thing. Insulated with bricks and EVA foam cover, it gets boiling hot in 40 minutes and stays hot for well over an hour. Drains straight into the garden when it's done.

It's difficult to get the perfect temp (110f) with the fire, but adjusting it down with cold water is easy. Ya also have to take away the burning wood and rake the coals aside before getting in, otherwise yeah, it'll burn ya.

Hmm, I did sand blast it and refinish it before installing, but I had no idea lead was such a problem with them. Thanks for alerting me. It's got nice touchmarks saying it's USA made in 1912, so it probably has lead. Sure felt like it was made of lead.

From what I've noticed, these rural communities are closely knit. My bro just moved to the middle of nowhere... while we were working on his house, one of his neighbors stopped by. We talked for a bit, then the neighbor started showing us good deals on HAM radios and whatnot. Apparently everyone out there has a designated channel in case shit goes down. I thought that was pretty cool.

And I guarantee there are hundreds of guns, explosives, and countless rounds of ammo in that little community.
