Messidor was the tenth month of the French Republic Calendar. As shown in the engraving, it was the month of harvesting. The sociopathic proto-communists who dominated the country after the revolution understood that they needed to romanticize their propaganda if it were going to catch on. It clearly didn't. Whoever made that engraving probably never spent a minute wielding a sickle.
