I have done a fair amount of research on this subject and I have come to the conclusion that most instances of homosexuality and transexuality are caused by infectious agents: fungi, protozoans, viruses, and bacteria. I'm always a bit perplexed when people argue about whether a behavior is influenced by genetics OR environment OR experience. Why "or"? It should be obvious that all of those factors are likely to play a role. Because there is no mechanism that would make our behavior in any way immune from being influenced by any of them.
On a case-by-case basis, one of those factors may be dominant over the others.
