Is libertarianism pragmatic?

in a vacuum we could be free but we are in a pressure cooker.

for one, people prefer having a state to the burdens of freedom

for two, people are sooo fucking dumb lol. they couldn't adapt if we all if a sudden became a libertarian society. too many new concepts and ways of interacting with the world for comfortable statists to not fight being ripped out of the statrix with all their might.

I want to live in a libertarian society but I fear it's too late to shed the state. So is it more pragmatic to focus on shrinking the state, at least at first?

Every political decision is a balance between the needs of the group or country (fasci) or the needs of the individual (liberty.)

We should be able to pick out the needs of the individuals vs. the needs of the country. For example, SpaceX is launching rockets in Boca Chica, TX. Local laws demand they limit their activity to give locals a chance to use the beach on weekends. So the human race's colonization of Mars is delayed for 20 people to use a beach every weekend. Logically, the country should move those people or even kill them to get to Mars faster, but we value the rights of individuals and the rule of law.

Except for the 100% of political decisions that are driven by bribes.

Less government is the most libertarian you can get. Less government is probably coming anyway. The massive debt of countries is going to collapse them. It's just a matter of hunting down the globalists.
