This vid was taken near White River Ontario Canada by a couple of buddies from Wawa who were moose hunting in the area...this area is teaming with Lynx and episodes like this are periodically seen, I've seen these standoffs a few times. I've got plenty of footage of black bears going face to face like this as well, in fact it's daily occurrence on my property because I live in a "high bear area"...but when teeth and claws collide there's fur and blood everywhere. I've seen bears rip each other apart and then go separate ways and head right for the food pile. Nature puts on a real show and there's no political correctness.

Mountain Lions (a species with many many folk names) are indeed evolved for wanton self destruction.... from a info page :

"They will fight other lions, EVEN TO THE DEATH, to protect their territory. A female with kittens will move to a new den site within her territory every few weeks to protect her kittens from predators and MALE LIONS."

from :

https://mountainlion.org/about-mountain-lions/frequently-asked-questions/

The males eat cubs, sometimes their own (litters can be from sperm of multiple fathers)

The males do indeed go for the neck and face of other male mountain lions of age.

Jingle, jingle, star swiping in
