Been having lots of gains in strength and size in arms, legs, and chest, but stomach is swelling up like a beach ball when I eat only slightly more calories.

Lots of gains in strength and size of muscle, but stomach grows at a massively disproportionate velocity compared to rest of body. Even if only add 100 extra calories, I get a huge gut, and I will not drop a single pound unless I fast 48 hours straight. I'm beginning to believe I have the world's slowest metabolism.

And no, I do not eat junk food, processed foods, or bread. Beer only on weekends.

Thinking of eating only 1 meal per day, or every other day. But then I get ravenously hungry nonstop.

Right now, I'm eating 2 big meals a day which seems to hold it in check. Someone told me to eat 6-8 smaller meals throughout the day, but when I did that I gained hella weight.

Take some activated charcoal. If your stomach shrinks, then your problem is because of bloating and inflammation and you probably have a food intolerance.

You should also try caprylic acid. If there's an improvement, then you have out-of-control gut fermentation and anything you eat that your particular gut microbes like to eat is going to be a problem for you. If this is the case, you'll want to avoid foods that stagnate, that take too long to digest, and highly-fermentable foods.

how old are you? I think my metabolism is slow too. I fast and get my weight down and I can keep it down if I am super careful only eating good things. The moment I indulge in a big tasty meal or big bag of chips or bunch of cookies or something - BAM! add a bunch of weight immediately. sucks

Fast for three days, then one small meal per day after that for a month. Lift light because you won't repair as fast and an injury will end you. Expect strength to fall temporarily by 20%. If you don't lift it may fall by as much as 50%. You will be weaker and have less endurance, and your hair will turn grey, and you'll wrinkle a little, but you'll look like an underwear model.

Now that I think about it, it's kind of gay. You'll definitely look older and possibly frail. So you'll need to be shirtless as much as possible if you're in it for vodka shrews.

You have 2 layers of abdominal fat: subcutaneous and visceral. The subcutaneous is what they target with liposuction, etc. Typically, under ketogenosis the body extracts energy from liver first, then viseral fat, muscle protein, then subcutaneous fat last.

It sounds like your body is depleting and restorting liver and visceral fat at a fast rate. This could indicate liver and heart inflamation. You should get checked out and possibly switch over to cardio intensive regimen (like triathalon training) for a few months. Get the abdominal inflammation and possible heart issues under control before a return to bulking up.

Instead of two large meals, try several small meals throughout the day.

I have the same issue - my stomach sometimes looks ENORMOUS and it's so uncomfortable and a little frightening. I also have severe inflamation in my back and hips that is very painful. I track everything I eat, do, etc to try to figure out the problem and I have slowly been narrowing in on it - carbs in general, and I suspect in particular gluten.

I know it's a trendy thing to be ~keto~ or ~gluten free~ but look up "gluten intolerance" and see if you fit the symptoms. Some people just can't digest this stuff. Carbs are in way more than just bread, too. Sauces, most drinks like fruit juice or alcohol, beans and other legumes, high-sugar fruits like bananas....Look at labels and subtract the fiber from total carbs - that's net carbs. Now try to keep that number as low as possible. I try to eat less than 30g per day, sometimes less than 20 or even 15!

For example, here is what I ate yesterday:
Coffee w/ heavy cream and a very low-carb protein shake mixed in, and scoop of collagen
Bacon and 2 jumbo eggs fried in bacon grease
a peach
an avocado with a bunch of ground beef cooked with mushrooms, peppers, etc and cheese
strawberries with natural peanut butter, flax seed, and cream cheese

That's a pretty good amount of calories, right? I didn't bloat all day and woke up with a perfectly flat stomach this morning.

By comparison, a few weeks ago, I had:
coffee with cream
thin-crust pizza (really not too high in calories, but very carby)
some hard seltzer (carbs)

and my stomach was HUGE. Way fewer calories but I looked like a house!

Another day, we took my dad out for Father's day. I had
Coffee with cream
Nachos

That's it! I didn't eat all day because I knew we'd be going out. So, calorie-wise, I wasn't in a huge surplus, but between the corn chips and beans, I ate a lot of carbs. I was bloated for about two days.

Good luck dude. I know it's frustrating. Keep track of your food and how you feel. Keep track of your poop habits, workouts, etc too. This is @jiggggg btw, feel free to holler if you have any questions or want to discuss stuff

That's exactly what I mean - there are people who actually have celiac disease who legitimately cannot eat gluten, and then there are instagram thots who go "gluten free!" because it's trendy even though they have no issues with gluten

If you need to cheat and ingest carbs, corn or rice based options can still help squash the gluten inflammation.

Don't eat meals, unless it's to be social. Concentrate on fuel and what you may need.

Exactly. Eat to sustain.
