I swallowed a little tooth paste for a while blood was in my poop within a week. Then I read up about it and was like Holy shit this is poison. I was using kinda like mouth wash when a little was left and swallowing it! Terrible idea.

That's like saying why does the government allow food distributors to put salt in their food when they know that it is a poison at large doses. The dose makes the poison. Anything can be poisonous.
