Through control over money and trade Japan is being remolded into something that is controlled by and conforms to the rest of the world. This project has been going on for who knows how long. So far they have made quite a lot of progress.

Edit: Same with Australia but they have been long since thoroughly conquered and didnt have a massive cultural disparity to begin with.
