English is the main language and is spoken everywhere. Some people speak French but mostly near Quebec. You end up picking up some French as all signs and packaging have both languages on them
Pierre Trudeau the psychopath communist decreed multiculturalism across Canada in the 1970's. All the government literature, signs, correspondence & services had to be in both French and English. Because emptying the treasury and wrecking teh economy was his goal.
Outside of Quebec it was all English all the time and people were extremely pissed off. Places like the West coast had less than 1% French speakers. It was the West Coast that hated his guts anyway. They never elected him but all the voters are in Ontario and Quebec and everyone else got the dictatorship they never wanted.
Trudeau was such a an arrogant nut he flipped the finger to demonstrators as he rode by on a train.
The multiculturalism dictatorship had nothing to do with French/English anyway. It was the long term goal to ethnically cleanse Whites for communistjudaism.
Pierre should have been strangled in his crib. And so should have the conservative leaders. They were complicit in every crime.
French and English are the official languages, so anything printed that's federal is in both languages. As well packaging information must be in both languages. Otherwise you mostly only hear French in Quebec, though most of the people there also speak English. For the rest of Canada, with the exception of a few rural French enclaves here and there, English is spoken. French is taught in grade school but unless you plan to work for the Feds or are otherwise into languages it doesn't stick of course.
Quebec is quite uppity about the language but the actual nbr of people that make a fuss over it is actually quite small. We were lost in Montreal once and I stopped for directions. A truck driver refused to speak anything but French to me so my wife, who's fluent, spoke to him and he suddenly became quite accommodating, even switching to English so that I could understand his directions. Jerks like that are out there but, as I say, they are minority.
