I think this has been possible already for a very long time. I remember watching some TV documentary on data safety in the late 90's or early 2000's where they showed that a computer not connected to any network still can be wireless accessed with some special hardware and software.

Wouldn't it be easier to just sneak a Wi-Fi transmitter on a RAM card? Or a motherboard?
