Sinkholes are fucked, they're basically random occurrences, so you just get screwed out of nowhere. But this is exactly why i carry window glass hammers in all the door pockets, center console, and glovebox. I'm not drowning in my car, outside of it-- maybe, but not in it. You only have ~20 seconds before the cabin is filled, even with the windows and doors shut.

The trick is to let the car fill with water until the pressure equalizes and then you can get out easily.

Damn, the tail light was on. Someone may have been in there. I expected/hoped, they would pop out of the rear hatch. It would have been a great story to tell.
