It's an achilles heel for europe because of the unique position it grants to jews. Historically christian europeans have granted jews civil rights not permitted to any other group (including europeans), either in the hope they'll convert or out of respect for their relationship with Yahweh. Christian tolerance has also been used to create support for jewish projects like zionism.
