That's Orange Jelly, Dacrymyces palmatus, and it actually is edible. I haven't tried it, but I doubt it tastes like Cheetos. Edit: you're supposed to boil or steam it, not sauté it.
I want to say that, it seems close to photos... the orange are spores and are on outside of visible mass, with most of the organism by weight is thin tendrils throughout that log, breaking down the lignin of the log.
Where Russela and Chantrelles and some other Boletes grow, there is a parasitic fungii called the Lobster Mushroom that looks this color. Now, I wouldn’t eat what’s in the picture, but lobster mushrooms are delicious.

That photo seems to show non-moving fungi, but still a relative of slime mold.
