Yeah twin peaks is a masterpiece and David Lynch is a genius. I don’t sense much subversion in his works if anything I think it is very based. Although I did always have a soft spot for the surreal & mysterious since a young age, which is why I loved his films as a teenager

He's not a crypto jew afaik. He was raised Presbyterian but now he practices his own form of transcendental meditation.
