I have some BAT from using Brave browser and I'd like to support Voat in some way. Also the creator of Brave is based (he's against LGBTP, lockdowns, etc.), so that might lower the chances of Voat getting rejected
It's pozzed and once you look at the requirements to participate you'll see both why you no longer have any interest + why idiots like Broc are pushing it.
Yeah, putt never registered, but it's mainstream now. Also there's a good chance you already have some BAT waiting for you that they've accepted on your behalf.
Do you mean they doxxed someone? Or they require beneficiaries to identify themselves.
If the latter, I can fully understand it since if someone falsely signs up as a beneficiary and the real creator shows up they'd be left holding the shit end of the stick. Also they might be required to do it under safe harbour laws.
Keep in mind, running a website isn't something you can really do anonymously. System will have to identify himself to hosting companies and such eventually, assuming he hasn't already.

If only those fuckers at uphold didn't take my BAT. I had like 300 of the stupid things and I didn't turn my computer on for a few months and now they're gone.
I saved the 20 word thingy that supposedly lets me recover it but that didn't work either.
Which browser is logging you out? Sounds like you don't have cookies enabled. I see you mentioned ice-dragon down below, I've never used it but I did try ice-weasel and it was unusable on most websites because so many basic things were disabled (like javascript).
As for BAT... they send you notifications around five times a day with a blurb about some product. If you click on the notification it opens an ad for that product in a new tab and you get some BAT for viewing it. It's around $5 a month. Then you can decide what proportion of it (if any) is divided up among the websites you visit.
The general idea is that ads are blocked by default and you get to control how many you see and what they go to fund, as opposed to the current funding model where ads are on by default and they fund whatever page you visit.
The downside is that it's still highly centralised. Brave get to decide which sites/projects are eligable for BAT rewards and they get to decide which ads can use the network. They also presumably build up some kind of profile of your ad viewing habits to help advertisers target relevant users.
Personally I have them turned on because they seem slightly less cancerous than google and I acknowledge the web has to be funded somehow, but I can see why someone wouldn't want to.
That's fair, it's not for everyone. I like the trickle of free crypto and so far most of the ads have been interesting to me. Like products I might actually use.
Could be. It's a shame but these days sites are basically built with firefox/chromium in mind. If you use anything else there's a good chance it won't work.
It's always interesting when people who willingly use a Chromium-based (see: Joogle-Alphabet-CIA developed) browser (meaning they're already in the shallow end of the security-awareness pool) also advocate further questionable decisions like promoting a crypto quite literally called BASIC ATTENTION TOKEN designed to ADVERTISE TO YOU.
Less and less IQ points in the community pool by the day.
The only other major browser family is Firefox, which is equally pozzed. They kicked the guy who made brave out (Brendan Eich) because he had privately donated to an anti gay marriage organisation, among many other corrupt decisions. If you think their codebase is secure you're incredibly naive.
like promoting a crypto quite literally called BASIC ATTENTION TOKEN designed to ADVERTISE TO YOU.
So what? You're going to be seeing ads one way or another, might as well decide where the revenue goes.
I've no reason to believe it is. His argument is that, because the core codebase is maintained by a team which works for google, it's potentially suspect and there could be some kind of malicious code in there.
Thing is, pretty much every browser which isn't chromium based is firefox based, and firefox are just as jewey as google are.
The other options browserwise are all proprietary like Safari and Vivaldi, which are even less trustworthy because they're closed source, or very basic browsers which aren't really usable for normal web activity.
Sure, just saying that if "chromium is tainted so brave will be too" is a valid argument then the same applies to firefox based browsers. Maybe a completely fresh alternative will emerge, but until then we've to choose from one or the other.

Its a great business model that could be a huge threat to joogles dominance. You can choose the sites you contribute to or just keep part of the advertising money yourself. OR choose to opt out of the ad program and not see ads entirely.
But really ignorance is as prevalent, likely more, than laziness. Is it not irresponsible to suggest an ad blocker without mentioning setting a dead-end for tracking? I personally think it’s less secure to use the ad block all the time than to scatter to the winds.
If you need proof to acknowledge that Jewgle, the CIA funded In-Q-Tel operation to embed backdoors in everything consumer, has backdoored the OS they fund the development of..

Retarded hyperbole.
Doubling down on stupid, your technical advice is to be ignored if you legitimately do not know how to do even basic ad blocking.
