SkyHi News the paper run over is owned by Swift Communication. Phil Swift sounds like he lives for extreme hand rubbing. His papers are paywalled & mostly ad sponsored content with heavily censored commenting.

The town manger was Tom Hale and the Mayor was Ed Wang.

I wasn't surprised that the 2020 Netflix documentary "Tread", recounting the events leading up to this and showing video of Heemeyer's tank destroying selected buildings, showed bias toward the still living families in Grandby. They all say they "didnu nuffin" (I'm certain one family is jewish) and Heemeyer was just some disgruntled nut who wanted something for nothing.

It's instructive to read the reviews of "Tread" on IMDB. No one is buying that version of the story. They largely praise Heemeyer and condemn the corrupt and wealthy families in Granby who caused Heemeyer's reaction to their evil.
