This video is badly titled. The boy tried to save his sister and got into trouble himself. Then the Dad jumped in and told him to swim ashore, while he (presumably) stayed with his daughter and faffed around.
The 7 year old kid swam for an hour to get to shore. This does not mean that is how far the shoreline was away, that's just how long it took him and his little legs to get there. He even admits he spent most of the time lying on his back relaxing. Presumably when the boy got ashore he rang for the coastguard or something. But then it was really the coastguard that rescued them. The boy just raised the alarm. Totally misleading.
