Why would an abundance of varied fossils indicate that lifeforms sprung into existence in a single stroke? It just means, if these were all found in the same layer, that they all died around the same time.

That is the case Walter is making. If the appearance of various species were separated by millions of years as is the conventional narrative, then one would expect to find them pesent in different numbers and proportions across the many layers of rock. Instead they all turn up at once in the fossil record which is better explained by the flood.

I agree there was a flood, one of many cyclical global disasters in the last 50k yrs.
My problem is with the claim that because all these varied creatures died at the same time that it somehow proves those creature came into existence at the same time.

If you came across a car wreck with 5 deceased occupants in it, of various heights and statures, you can't say that they were all born at the same time, just because you found that they died at the same time.
