Looks like vaccine passports are dead in the water. Also airlines are concerned about vaxed getting bloodclots so may not let them fly. Fortune favours the brave

They won't work anywhere and never had a chance. For anyone familiar with the logistics of such a thing, this was obvious. The threat of vax passports is a stick to trick people into getting vaccinated to avoid hassle. It's like the free-donut carrot, but for urban middle class types who like to travel.

The EU is the only region that seems intent to even TRY the vax passports and I doubt that will last til EOY. More interesting is how they're using it to restore their borders, a sort of backdoor cancellation of Schengen. Never underestimate how racist and dishonest the liberal Euros are.

They wanted a lockdown during the SARs "crisis" but it was considered impossible and impractical. Now we have two years of on/off lockdowns and vax passports are considered impossible and impractical. Next crisis vax passports will roll out immediately.

Got to admit I fear this. First they test the water then they adapt their play book. Popular resistance is our best hope I think

the trouble with passports is that it requires a system to verify. the infrastructure and logistics to implement such things takes about two years at the pace of corporate project rollouts.

It doesn't have to be everywhere at once, or even 100% foolproof. They can start by just having people visually check the card, then slowly roll out the RFID scanners to more and more places.

it will take YEARS. such a thing can only work with mass adoption immediately. if there is a gap between open places and restricted places, the business will all flood to the open places, causing the restricted ones to mostly drop the restrictions.

They'll start with things that are hard to avoid, like air travel, then they'll slowly tighten other forms of travel too. They'll partner with large companies like the promoters who do all the big concerts or the really huge supermarkets. Sure, you could just stop going to those concerts or shop in smaller shops, but most people won't.

Gradually it'll spread until it's a massive inconvenience not to have a card, possibly also antisocial since your friends will have to make allowances for you. Then they can simply make it law.
