The NWO was a wrestling group. I don't just mean that as a joke - but I'm going to let you in on a secret that isn't such a secret to the comparatively few of us in this that know what we're talking about - the fact that the idea of some element existing known as 'the NWO' is conspiratard boilerplate. Hitler spoke of a new order in Europe. That was something completely different that conspiratards too latch onto. And it referred to a new German leadership or dominance on the continent. In international relations terms a new world order is a new arrangement of power. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for example spoke of a new world order featuring China, Russia, and Iran gaining greater prominence to counter US dominance. When Pres. Bush spoke of a new world order during the first gulf war - which set off conspiracists - he was referring to a more rules based system divorced from the law of the jungle. We had a new order after WW2 with the Bretton Woods system and American hegemony. Another new order in international relations after the Congress of Vienna in 1815... and on it goes. If it's an 'order' it's a way of organizing the world's power arrangements - and if it's 'new' it is a new way of doing it, and as it applies to the world it is thus a new world order. World order is also a common way to speak of this.
In the above book political scientist Samuel Huntington was referring to a post-Cold War paradigm of post-ideological competition between civilizations he saw emerging. A remaking of world order, or new world order, changing from the bipolar US-Soviet standoff.

Of course there are people that seek greater political merger of the world's governments. We see that even in the EU quite openly. But even in well known 'globalist' groups opinion can vary widely. And in any case it is important to know what they are talking about when they use this language.
Or you can think I work for Hall and Nash. I don't think anyone is seriously anticipating a 'one world government' featuring a merger between China and the US soon. And only idiots think a group of people that can be called 'the NWO' controls both countries simultaneously.
