Well, the Russians weren't treated like people by their leaders, so it's unsurprising that they didn't treat their enemies as people, either.
My grandfather was taken in as a prisoner by the Russians and what they did was worse then the holocaust tales you hear today. Ironically, the Russian soldiers keeping watch weren't treated much better. Everyone there was basically there because they fucked up and they were kind of abandoned. No one even bothered keeping up a facade about politics.
I've seen this video many times, but it still hits me in the feels. It must feel like they're all living in a parallel dimension, where the evil that they sought to uproot wiped out everything that they cared about, even their memories. And then, even after their loss, the enemy blamed them for all of their own crimes. One day, they will carry their honor again. In the name of justice, it will happen.
They didn't sacrifice for nothing. They didn't die for nothing. We are still here and we will keep their fight going.
