30-06 is better than 308... but 308 is the best cartridge for war.

I'll bet you aren't even a glowie. Just an absolute jacktard.

Been huffing again?

People who talk the most, usually know the least....

In Marine rifle qualification when I joined in 1969 we used the M14, 7.62X51 (.308). Fired from 200 meters, 300 meters, 500 meters. Early 70s switched to M16, 5.56 (.223). Still shot from the same ranges. I forget the way it goes, but but 7.62 and .308 may not be interchangeable, or maybe it's 5.56 and .223.

The milspec standards have higher barrel pressure requirements. You can fire 223 out of a 5.56, but not vice versa even though they’re physically compatible, for example.

Thanks.

Have you read much about the new 6.8 cartridge for the NGSW? The idea is to drop the weight and increase the penetration over the 308, I think.

300 Savage is the best round because it sounds bad ass.

Actually capable of 7.62 NATO ballistics with 150gr slugs but not as good with heavier for long range accuracy.

You're not wrong, but you're not entirely right, either. Get friendly with an ammo manufacturer and learn from him what you can. It's surprisingly easy and cheap to manufacture your own ammunition if you get permission to use the tools owned by a friend.

I have a Saiga .308 that I custom made into a tactical monstrosity. I ordered most of the parts back when Carolina Shooter Supply was still relatively new. While it's rather heavy and hard to run with for long distances, it's going through nearly anything that I point it towards. I've practiced with it many times, and I have it sighted perfectly and it's broken in wonderfully. I've used it to train others, who have absolutely fallen in love with its incredibly smooth trigger pull and recoil. I have a built in front bipod for a front grip, and the cheek rest on the back of the skeleton stock is so comfortable that I've heard that someone could fall asleep on top of it. It's my end of world gun, and it's never going to let me down.
