I never saw this, but that sounds like so much fun.

Is it a VR chat thing?

Yeah, that sounds like fun. I bought the HTC VIVE shortly after it was released. I kickstarted the Oculus way back when it needed funding, but I received one that was so shoddy, I sold it to a friend. I have a bunch of equipment that I've purchased slowly for the VIVE; full room scale is a lot of fun, but if you're really tall, you need space between both the sensors and the ceiling. I haven't done anything VR related recently; most games are pretty slow to catch on. I'd need to build another computer for it as well, but I'd like to join a VR room, sure.

what VR headset would you recommend?

If it's your first device, you should get an oculus quest 2. Great price, excellent quality, and a high end gaming PC is not required but can be linked into if you so choose. I love mine. The only 2 things I don't like about it is the included head strap and battery life. The default head strap works to start out, but after a few weeks, you'll want to upgrade to a better/ mechanically tightening one. The battery life is about 2-2.5 hours which might seem OK, but if its going to be a family gaming machine, that time goes quick. You can still play with a long usb cable, but that can get annoying. Watching movies and shows with a usb cable isn't too bad though and honestly, every device has this same problem of power, so it's not limited to just the quest 2's problem. Some headsets have extra batteries built in or space for battery packs to attach. I haven't tried one of those yet, but alot of the reviewers I read liked a few of them.

why would you recommend a devise that needs to be linked to facebook?

Cuz it’s fun. What’s wrong with linking to Facebook? Anybody that’s super paranoid about it, just installs side quest and skips the Facebook stuff. Then you get the best priced vr with great specs.
