I don't know, this one is centralized and does pretty good.

Yes, but nu-Voat doesn't necessarily stand for free-speech explicitly from what I can tell, so it's not like there are set standards for the platform itself concerning free-speech. For right now, I think it's fine but the recent vote changes concern me a bit. I don't think @system is malicious, mostly just providing a lassiez-faire platform for former goats. However, I won't deny the possibility for @system for whatever reason to turn against the user base or free-speech or for whatever reason eventually be compromised (as many centralized platforms are). For example, 4chan's /b/ being taken over by glowies. I don't think it's necessarily how we feel in the present that determines if a site is and will continue to be free-speech, but the general inevitabilities and trends of many centralized platforms advocating free-speech that seem to follow the path not being able to uphold their ideals. But it is conjecture on my part, I suppose, but I stand by my observations on the matter.

Whats happening is the push for implementing the original Voat immune system, which many shills call censorship. The vote system is far less strict here than on V1, which lead to our old, formerly silenced pedos, shitting up v/all/new. On V1, if a comment was voted down to -4 it was auto-collapsed and pushed to the bottom of the page. People never saw it. Many criticized it as stifling free speech and open debate, but if left untouched, like on cuckchan, the glowies and bots take over. I mean, shit - even Ruqqus is filled to the brim with bot posts. It wasn't a perfect system, but it worked. 4chan actually tried to raid us and we didn't even notice. I'd take this system any day over the latter.

That's your opinion and that's cool and all but personally I find collapsing comments to be some seriously gay ass shit on the same level as shadow banning people. Makes me feel Jewish, or in other words, gross and dishonest.

They can always be expanded again, or if the comments are sorted by "Controversial" they aren't collapsed at all. Point is, they aren't removed.

I can make the same point for shadow banning.

Voat isn't removed but it's actively hidden from the public. And effectively we reach very little to zero public audience.

So where are these websites that work like torrents?

A non-exhaustive list of decentralized stuff exists at https://prism-break.org/en/all/ which I occasionally refer to.

Some have the decency to die when they cant hold on. Showing the world a defiant and dignified death with their head held high despite external pressure and suppression.

Wouldn't a republic also work?

[ - ] Xigbar68 [op] 0 points 3 yearsMay 2, 2021 10:05:49 ago (+0/-0)

I'm not aware how republic platforms work. I reserve to comment on it.
