Meth is one of the worst drugs on this planet. The fact that they made a TV show glorifying it was just propaganda. While the show might have been well executed, the overall premise was to entice more people into thinking that drug manufacturing was easy and/or profitable. People imitate everything that they see on TV. If I ever encounter someone on meth, the only thing that I will ever do to "help" them is give them a bottle of water. Beyond that, if they are anywhere near my home, I will point a gun at them and tell them to never come here again. Meth users are literally insane. They steal, they can't control emotional impulses, and they're extremely prone to violence and insanity. They're the ideal candidates for complete mind control. I don't want them anywhere near me, as long as I have a functioning brain.
They did, but I think they were using it as a form of combat awareness and to avoid sleep deprivation. Much like morphine which frequently developed addictions after use, it's still a very dangerous drug to hand out to anyone.
