Literal NPCs don't have internal dialogues or images

She only talks about internal dialogue but a lot of them talk about not being able to see images in their head. She says she thinks she can think but then describes just feeling emotion and mindlessly vomiting words.

I don't know what happened to these people or how but this is not normal and a huge problem I don't know how but we need to figure out how to fix them.

It's from the movie 'From Beyond' 1986. The premise of the movie is that the pineal gland was an important organ used to detect danger earlier in mankind's evolutionary history and slowly lost the ability to use it. It's a solid B film that mixes 1980s mad science with body horror.

It was just the first thing I thought of when I saw the calcified pineal gland comment.

I still can't imagine this being real. I'm 70% through the rough draft of a novel. I have litsraly had to play out scenes in the book in my head visually and the dialog over and over and still miss a ton of stuff much less describing the scenery and setting which I have a hard time with.

Life seems impossible the way this lady describes it they are animals basically living moment to moment

Ohh I would be interested in reading your novel, even unfinished.

I would say don't worry about describing every last detail of the setting and scenery as the reader can use their imagination but clearly some people need it.

Life seems a lot simpler for her I would say, probably even happier in her ignorance but less fulfilling and interesting I wouldn't want to live that way.

I remember as a very young thing back before I could speak that is how I thought.

You still have thoughts, likes, dislikes, wants, plans, ect... You could still identify things, compare them, and have opinions on them.

I wonder if they can do any long term planning, make lists more than a few items long, or do math in their head. It probably makes introspection and critical analysis difficult but not impossible if they genuinely try. I imagine such people would be easily swayed by rhetoric because their mind relies more on feelings and doesnt ponder content much beyond a shallow level.

I am awesome at math .... with paper. I'm not good at math in my head, because I've never practiced it. I'm sure that could change if I worked on holding strings of numbers in my head. However, being a lifelong introvert who began smoking pot at 23, I have very much internal dialogue. I look at my female coworkers, who are ALWAYS on the phone talking to someone, wondering how they ever have a thought for themselves.

Anyway I can't multiply triple digit numbers in my head, but I can write jokes and laugh at them in my head.

I never meant to imply that math was solely related to internal dialog. I felt it was quite clear.

I would however say mental math is likely reliant upon mental images or verbalization.

This is how lower IQ people operate. It's a much more basic operating system. Or, they cannot access the lower layers of the stack, they do not have kernel access. They are using a GUI and you are using a CLI w Root.

I understand your point and accept it mostly but I don't think it is normal, at least not for so many white people as it appears are this way. Someone mentioned calcified pineal gland, which is a side effect of Fluoride consumption I believe which would make this an effect of poisoning. Hopefully reversible but maybe not.

I only hear my own voice or my own mental rendition of other people's voices. It's always me choosing the words. I sometimes carry out an entire conversation in my head, having the other voice say what I think a particular kind of person would say in response. I like to think it makes me better at talking to people, but some of my best lines were made up on the fly during a conversation. Maybe that's just another manifestation of "plans are worthless, but planning is indispensable."

I think there should be at least 2 - a concious and subconscious... I have about 8 layers but I think that is too many, although I can mute some. There is volume differences. They are all "me" but the concious ones can pull different voice to replay or alter songs, movie clips, or conversations with friends. They can talk to you or each other, but you should be able to control all the concious ones.

I think in images or sentence fragments, so I get the whole "no voice-over" thing... like if I want a glass of water, I just see a glass of water in my head or maybe just the word "water". I don't think a complete sentence- "I want a glass of water". However, when I read something, I absolutely hear the words. I'm hearing the words I'm typing right now. How do you read something and not hear the words?

Wanting to quench your thirst is the furthest thing from an abstract thought, it doesn't require any rationality. However when I read, my brain is reading to itself ... it seems.
