You now must have at least 25 ccp to downvote

You can now only downvote a particular user 20 times in a 24 hour period. 10 reserved for submissions and 10 reserved for comments.

In other news there is a new gore tag. It's not written in the rules yet but gore content should be labelled as such. Examples of gore include excessive blood, limb removal, mutilation.

I agree with @Wasiu. If people just want to lurk (and my understanding is that most users of forums are lurkers), then they should be able to vote. Forcing users to add filler comments or begging for votes just makes the site worse. BUT new users should have to work their way up to get voting rights. Maybe limit how many votes you get on a new account, and reduce the limit for any day that they log in. So after a month or two you get full voting rights. Of course it could be gamed, as any system can, but it would get rid of the laziest vote scammers.

Yeah I did consider that. I can always adjust it or get rid of it, but I wanna give it a shot. People shouldn't automatically downvote an account just because they don't like them. Vote on the content. This change promotes that. If someone decides to spam tranny porn to all, I would most likely have them create a private sub for it. As time goes on these situations will arise and be figured out.

Downvoted accounts could be limited, but nothing stops them from creating a new account. With a new account they are now unblocked from everyone on the site, who then has to reblock them later on down the road. The site does limit account creation based on IP but it's really not that difficult to get around. This is why I believe the better option is to not limit accounts and let people block who they want, instead of a constant cycle of accounts in, accounts out. Maybe my opinion will change on this. Time will tell.

I'd downvote this idea, but as a life-long lurker I don't generate CCPs (currently 0) to do that.....even though I have 314 vote score.

And btw, up/down vote still IS interaction. An upvote to a meme is equivalent to a pat on the poster's back and that's all that's really needed in that situation.

Because what you are describing doesn't contribute to the future of the site at all - it is a form of leeching, to use torrent verbiage. Someone has to submit content - the big guys are submitters, the little guys are commenters. This keeps people with no stake in the matter from shitting up the place for the rest of us.

Don't forget that most bots and alts don't comment - there is a risk of commenting for shills, in that there are algorithms that can prove the two accounts are used by the same user by their patterns. You can't run these algorithms on nothing.

What system proposed is literally the only possible solution in this heavily-botted climate.
