This whole "remove suffering" idea is one that is rooted in a very deep knowledge of human motivation; when suffering no longer exists because no one perceives its existence, there's going to be unlimited peace as long as no one spreads the "disease" of noticing that suffering exists to anyone but their own mind.

If we were talking about improving immune systems to eliminate disease,stopping aging,and making people stronger,smarter,and all around better,that would go a longer way to stopping suffering. A smart person realizes what's needed is to refine the pain center. Instead of general "Ow ow ow!" you have a more refined "there's discomfort in my left leg,most likely a charlie horse". You want it to always be a little painful,you don't want it to be too strong to be over powering or too weak to simply be ignored. Pain can't be eliminated. Pain is necessary.
