I quit my job the moment masks became mandatory. I got my job back almost immediately because my boss doesnt believe in this shit to begin with (we teach infection controls for fucks sake, nothing suddenly changed overnight to make masks effective infection controls, they are not and never were appropriate for long term wear or for stopping pathogen transfer. There are no real studies going ahead to test their effectiveness because it would be no different than throwing billions of dollars at someone to study whether water is wet. we know the answer. they know the answer.) and our industry ended up with an exemption.
Had a job booking for the government department that enforced those bullshit rules, but also gave my industry an exemption, and you know what that same department that gave me a clear exemption by their law tried to force me to do when on their property? they tried to enforce a mask. i walked. i was supported. We lost that contract, which only fucks them, because through pandemic we were one of only 2 companies still running at full tilt, everyone else fucked off. I know how much the other company charges and how shit their training is, but i also know how many new contracts we picked up from companies that have never used us before.
